The Season of Light & Love

Over thirty years ago while a young graduate student at Fordham University I received a Christmas card from a colleague that I framed. I still have it hanging in an inauspicious place that I see each morning as I step out of the shower. It says simply, "Perhaps the Star glows deeply within us only waiting to be discovered". And so I’ve been thinking about this past year here at Integrated Health Concepts… have I followed the Star and discovered that place of light and wonder and awe within myself? Have I discovered it burning brightly in others? The answer is that it is often more easily seen and valued in another and yet our life journey is about also discovering and honoring the Light within our self – the love and life of the Sacred One within. Perhaps that is the gift and hope of our relationships- to call forth the light in each other and reflect it like a mirror for each other to see.

Those of us who are Reiki practitioners know the power of this Light flowing from our heart and hands to help ease physical pain and suffering, to dispel the gloom of depression and fear, and to help awaken our clients to the sacredness of their being. This is a Light of great love, of wisdom, and of compassion and we are blessed for having experienced it deep within ourselves and in others. Thank you to each of you who have shared the gift of Reiki with me during this past year – Dr. Schrenker and colleagues, clients, students, and fellow practitioners. You continually help me understand not only more about Reiki but also about myself and I am blessed by your presence in my life. I wish each of you wondrous and joyful holidays. You truly have helped me discover the Star in myself and others!
